Recently, mobile communications have been rapidly developing in the world. With the commercial deployment of 3G mobile communications system, the R&D for technology of the next generation of wireless communication, the B3G or 4G system, has been carried out around the world. Funded by the 863 FuTURE project, National Mobile Communications Research Laboratory (NCRL) of Southeast University carried out research on next generation radio transmission technology.In this thesis, frequency synchronization, one of the key techniques of digital mobile communications system, is investigated. First, the basic concepts of frequency synchronization in digital communications are introduced, the effects of frequency offset on MIMO-GMC system is evaluated, and the performance of a frequency synchronization scheme for MIMO-GMC system is presented. Based on the floating point simulation, fixed point simulation is carried out, and a hardware implementation scheme is proposed based on fixed point simulation results. Finally, the frequency synchronization scheme is implemented in FPGA. Experiments show that it fulfils the requirements.
