Based on the introduction of the topological structure of a radio receiver and FCC(Federal Communications Commission) standard, a monolithic AM(Amplitude Modulation)/FM(Frequency Modulation) receiver for both mono and stereo has been designed in this dissertation. The concrete circuitry of monolithic AM/FM receiver has been optimum designed with correlative design rules and models of the 6 inch 1. 5u/12V Bipolar process of Shanghai BCD Co. , Ltd under Cadence environment on SUN workstation. The monolithic integrated circuit is suitable for application of AM/FM radios , which consists of three parts: AM, FM and MPX(Mutiplex). It have features: Wide supply voltage range, Vcc=1.8 to 7V; lower radiation due to special layout; right bias control circuit ensure low supply current , less than 10mA; less external device; built-in varactor diode for AFC; built-in VCO , ECL and Zener ZAP circuits, PLL(Phase-Locked Loops) to decode stereo, etc. After the analysis and design of each circuit block, the feasibility of the circuit design has been verified through the simulation of the whole chip under various operating states with EDA tools (Hspice, Spectre, Spectres). The foundation on which the layout has been edited is schematic circuits and process. The layout has also been completed with the DRC (Design Ruler Check), ERC(Electrics Ruler Check), Extraction and LVS(layout vs Schematic) checking. And then, this circuit succeed in engineering lots with the Bipolar process of BCD Co., Ltd , and the design spec has been met, which will contribute to the independent research and development of monolithic AM/FM circuits.
