The Design And Implementation Of Workflow Management System Based On XML

With the business requirements changing constantly, the design, optimization and management of business process become important means of enterprise competition. Now, workflow technology has become the core technology for the definition, management and controlling process.Workflow Management Systems(WfMS) is based on workflow technology. By transferring reasonably and distributing concerned information and resource to correspond each activity in business procedure, it can help realize business objects of enterprise efficiently and reform business procedure better.First, the paper analyzes workflow technology, the model and structure of WfMS, and it also concludes the benefits of using XML model; the workflow management system gives up database to access data. The paper proposes the use of XML file to access data. In the system, workflow model is extended to workflow process model, workflow instance model, worklist model and organization model based on the meta-model of WfMC. The paper gives process definition language based on XML can combine with other workflow define well, and also gives the XML Schema data structure design of process instance, worklist and organization. In the design of organization, the paper gives the access control based on roles and tasks to meet the objective of the workflow management, implementing the access control to the data in the form.Based on the workflow model and the structure of workflow management system of Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC), the paper establishes the prototype of the system design requirements and the workflow management system design based on XML, and takes full advantage of the XML platform independence and self-descriptive characteristics through with Java; In the workflow engine module, processes schedule is implemented by co-operations of task scheduler and XML parser, task manager, resource manager, and workflow instance manager to make process circulate properly according to the order in advance. Finally, the workflow management system is used in the document transmission management.
