In companied with the sustained and rapid economy growth in Shanghai, the demand on electrical power has been drastically surged in recently years. However, the capacity of electrical power supply in Shanghai district is greatly lagged due to the concern of government on environment protection and the other physical restriction in the city. In every summer peak time, the whole Shanghai electrical power network becomes in greatly short of power supply. The Power Load Management System is designed to restrict the power supply to individual users, and thus minimize the overall power shortage. The Power Load Management System of Shanghai has been used in Shanghai since 1996 and it played a critical role in providing reliable electrical power supply. The main functions of the Power Load Management System limit the power load and data collection. As an extension, the system may own following functions, such as the Remote Meter, the Power Quality Monitor and analyze and the Demand Management of the Power Users. In additional, the drastically rising in the number of terminal users poses the big challenge to the old private wireless network. However, the existing system cannot work with public wireless communication method such as GPRS and CDMA. Thus, it has to go through a thorough renovation on existing systems. This thesis discussed the methods to apply CORBA technology into system design, and it also give a detailed introduction to VisiBroker, which is a software product based on CORBA technology developed by Borland Company. In order to reduce the coherence among modules, the concept of SOA is introduced in system design. The Power Load Management System is no longer an isolated system. Instead, it has been integrated into the Power Marketing Support System and is required to provide two-way communication with other information systems. This paper is intended to provide several solutions for effective integration between the Power Load Management System and other information systems.
