Design And Implementation Of Web-Based WAP Page Transformation Proxy

WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) is produced accompanying with the fast development of mobile communication and Internet; the two big industries have been banded tightly by WAP. And through WAP, digital mobile phone and other wireless device users could promptly and securely access Internet. However, WAP 's application language is WML, and HTML is the commonly used language for Internet. Therefore WAP users could only browser WAP pages, but they can not browse HTML pages accurately and clearly.In this paper, in order to solve the language and environment differences between WAP application layer and Web's, we provide a solution of WAP page transformation proxy. The major research work focused on the three subjects as follows: First, how to realize the page transformation between HTML and WML; Second, how to realize a relatively universal page transformation system for any markup languages; Third, how to expediently provide page transformation service for WAP users.For the first problem, by analyzing and comparing the syntax and semantics between HTML and WML, based on XML, we realized the algorithm of page transformation between HTML and WML.For the second problem, by analyzing the document format's characteristics of markup languages, we bring forward the method of universal page transformation for web content based on knowledge base.
