The Static Var Generator (SVG) is one of the FACTS equipments, which can motion compensate the electric network's reactive power, at the same time it can absorb inductive and capacitive reactive power, so SVG becomes one of the most reactive-load compensation equipment in AC transmission system. In this paper, the development and actuality of FACTS and SVG is presented. After analyzing the basic principle and mathematical model, and then the control method is designed, that is the SPWM control. Furthermore, a program flow chart and its implementation board are given based on TI'S TMS320LF2407A DSP.In the hardware part, the PLL Synchronous Sampling Technique used on data acquisition in Power Network, which can automatic follow Power Network's frequency; and then DSP is the core processor of the controller, which improve realtime character of reactive compensation; The SVG have two control ways, one is the direct current control and the other is indirect current control. Compared with the indirect control, the direct control has more superior performance in current tracking speed and control property. So, in this paper, we design the software part based on SPWM technology according to direct current control, in this part, the sampled data in Power Network disposal process in DSP is introduced in detail and the application of double closed-loop in control system is presented detailedly, including the application of digital PI control. With the circuit board and software, a tentative SVG control device is build up, which makes good bases for the research into the physical model of SVG. In addition, these researches give bases for further study on SVG.
