In the recent 20 years, with the global semiconductor industry rapid development, the related software and hardware design achieved the new level, and the much complex digital signal processing algorithm was possible to real-timely realize and obtain the wide application. The typical representative is that the digital signal processor (DSP) unifies with the speech compression coding, and obtains the wide application in the daily communications system, for example numeral mobile phone, IP telephone and so on. Network communication development, microprocessor and special signal processing chip development, also has provided a broader platform for the speech processing technology application. Integrated DSP has lots of advantages, such as low power cost, compactness, and higher working speed and so on, which leads trend in digital speech processing field. In this situation, this paper designs and has completed the speech compression system based on the DSP, and has realized the G.721 compression algorithm through the system.Firstly this article analyzed the architecture of TMS320VC54X DSP and the theory of ADPCM algorithm; Secondly it demonstrated how to develop a practical speech signal acquisition and processing board based on TMS320VC5402.Several important hardware modules, such as memory, CPLD,...
