Application Of Web Service Technology For WebGIS

With the developing of information technology, especially internet, domain of GIS application has a great development in many fields. Recently, the development of GIS network utilization make a dramatically progress, and WebGIS which is based on Internet has been forwarded. At the same time, the structure of GIS from single-machine develops to Client/Service, and to Browser/Server.This paper brought forth WebGIS system based on Web Service according to current tradition WebGIS's shortcomings of share in GIS data.First of all, First of all, Web Service is studied with introducing and analyzing the Web Service truss in the whole, expatiating the concept classification model and stack of Web Service and analyzing its application model in WebGIS in the next, explaining several critical technologies of Web Service truss, such as conception, categorization and module(XML,XSD,SOAP,WSDL,UDDI etc.).Next, Based on comparison and analyzing the mainstream of developing technology in WebGIS, and then introduced a solution of WebGIS based on Web Service technique. Then, according this solution, accomplished a infrastructure of WebGIS based on Web Service, this infrastructure has three layers(Client viewer, GIS Web Service, Data Server). The major function of Client viewer layer is to post request and to display the result of received, this layer include browser or other GIS application which need the result of GIS data. GIS Web Service layer is core part, design principle is that the GIS model (the existed COM component) is packaged by Web Service and is issued by internet. Data layer is a place which stores the spatial data and attributes data. Web Service work and calculate the GIS data according to the parameter of request by calling to the GIS model, and response the GIS data(GML data). Because the Web Service is based on XML, all GIS data is required by XML format.According to the implemented empiric WebGIS framework which based on Web Service, the solution which selected in this paper works effectively to issue GIS information. It could be considered that the bringing Web Service to bear on WebGIS application has an active meaning for promoting the development of WebGIS.
