Digital picture processing and recognition technology is a newly rising technology from 60's 19th century . Its development is depend on the fast development of computer, multimedia and telecommunications technologies. Now, Digital picture processing and recognition technology has spanned IT domain and applied in many other industries. Medical picture processing is the most successful one of them .From early CT , MRI to recognition of cell and cadres, Digital picture processing and recognition technology has been applied in lots of areas in Iatrology.In human nonnasality diseases, decayed teeth disease is very frequent and normal.By the statistic in 2005, the rate of decayed teeth in grown-ups is up to 49.88%, while it is about 76.55% in children and the rate is rising. To find the decayed teeth, cure them as early as possible will prevent decayed teeth from bad to worth . However , early decayed teeth often appear in the adjacent surface of the teeth. It is still a problem in the world .So the system in my thesis is just a applicational research which is focus on this problem.The clinical decayed tooth diagnosis system described in this thesis has adopted Canny edge detection arithmetic operators to get primary decayed information from tooth edge .Then we distill decay location and depth of the tooth by gray-degree pickup arithmetic. Finally ,by using the information amalgamation technology ,the system will analyze and diagnose the result which includes the information of location and depth of the decayed teeth .The software system is able to perform like a dentistry expert, which will greatly shorten diagnose time and improve the right rate of the diagnose.The thesis will expatiated the Digital picture processing and recognition technology and its new application-- The clinical decayed tooth diagnosis system by six parts .In the first chapter, we will discuss the background of Digital picture processing and recognition technology and its common concepts and algorithms . In the second chapter, the tool for modulation—MATLAB and development-Visual C++ will be introduced in .The third and fourth chapter is the core part in this thesis , which will put forward the design clues and structure of the system. At the same time , three core technologies used in this system will be described ,that are the Canny edge detection algorithm , the gray-degree pick-up algorithm and the information amalgamation concept. The fifth part introduces the diagnose correct rate and stability of the system . At last, we conclude the work in this graduate design and bring out the further questions.The application of digital picture processing and recognition technology in Iatrology is just a new research direction and the system in my thesis can only process the digital picture of independent teeth. For the diagnose to those connecting teeth pictures , there is wider and deeper work to do for us .
