JXTA Network Monitoring Policy Configuration And Implement

Peer-to-Peer, called P2P for short, is becoming more and more popular and it is one of the main network mode of internet nowadays. P2P application predominates in internet bandwidth, so management for P2P network is becoming more and more important. However, there is still a lot of research to do on P2P Network Measurement and Management because it falls far behind other Network Management, such as basic network management and internet network management.I have been working on P2P and JXTA ever since September,2004 and participate in the project, JXTA Network Monitoring System, JNMS for short.The dissertation mainly research on network monitoring policy based on JXTA which is invoked by SUN. Network measurement aims at metering and monitoring JXTA network in order to give reference to optimizing the performance.The dissertation begins with introduction on P2P technology, JXTA technology and network management based on policy. Then it focuses on JXTA Network Monitoring Policy. Finally, the design and implement of JNMS Policy Subsystem is described in detail.Monitoring policy makes the JNMS more flexible and configurable. Considering the characters of JNMS, the dissertation brings out the design of the JNMS Policy Subsystem in high level and how to implement. Not only the difficulties but also how to overcome them during implement are described. In the end of the dissertation is the prospect.
