Network Survivability breaks limits of traditional network security concepts, and emphasizes the abilities of network and information systems to achieve their essential missions in a timely manner, while they are suffering from attacks, faults, or accidents. Main idea of survivability is that the systems can achieve their essential missions, and timely recovery damaged services, even after intrusions succeed, and main components are damaged or destroyed. Network survivability has become a new direction of studies on network security.Firstly, this dissertation researches the interrelated domains of network survivability, including backgrounds, main differences from traditional network security concepts, definition elements, developing trends, critical technologies etc, and builds a systematic theory framework of studies on network survivability. Secondly, dissertation analyses the existing technique for improvement of survivability and proposes a new emergency response algorithm oriented survivability from the view of needed resources. Thirdly, dissertation makes researches on evaluation methods for survivability and puts forward a new method that combines uncertain AHP with fuzzy comprehensive assessment technology to build a quantifying assessment model for network survivability on the basis of critical properties in SSA. A testing is given to prove validity and feasibility of using the method in network survivability assessment. Finally, dissertation summarizes the work in the past of subject, and proposes research plans for next step.
