Strapdown inertial navigation system (SINS) is a kind of very advanced inertial navigation technology. In the SINS, it is used that mathematics platform, that is, calculating real-time attitude matrix. Thus, The navigation computer comes to be key technology which limits the precision of the system. At present, high—precision, high—reliability, low—cost, miniaturization, digitization have been the trend of inertial technology field.DSP is a new technology in digital signal processing. As a special digital signal processor, it has high operation speed and precision. The paper discusses a kind of system of master-slave navigation computer based on single-chip processor and DSP. It uses high-speed and high- precision DSP (TMS320VC5402) as the most important instrument of navigation computer processing the data; It employs high-speed and high-performance AVR? 8-bit Micro-controller (ATmagal28L) as the most important instrument of data collecting processor. So, a navigation computer with dual CPU structure is structured. Improvement the system's the whole function and combination GPS and INS increase the system's accuracy, and increase actual application of engineering value.In this paper, the DSP-based Navigation Computer is referred, and several aspects are investigated as follows:1. The paper first generalizes basic principle and the algorithm of strapdown navigation.2. The project of the Navigation Computer is demonstrated and put forwardat first. At the same time, the characteristics of DSP and AVR are analyzed.3. The hardware of the DSP-based strapdown inertial guidance system is introduced in details. The working principle of the DSP-based strapdown inertial guidance system was illustrated, and the electric circuit and flow chart of SINS was described. In this paper, some interface circuits with DSP are introduced in detail. Main circuits have memory system, boot-loader system, asynchronous serial interface and resetting circuit etc.4.
