Animalcule fermentation engineering is the foundation of bioengineering as well as modern biology technology and bioengineering industrialization. With the development of fermentation engineering, automatic control technology is imminently needed. Biomass is one of the most important variables in fermentation process, and directly influences the control and optimization of fermentation process. However, with the lack of biological sensors, there are no effective measurement methods for biomass at present. Using soft-sensor technology to estimate biomass on-line is a new effective approach to solve this problem. The key technology of soft-sensor is the building of soft-sensor model. According to the modeling methods of soft-sensor currently, applying mechanism and identification modeling to build hybrid model can get better fitting precision and generalization ability. Therefore, it's an effective approach to estimate the biomass on-line using the hybrid modeling method in fermentation process.During the soft-sensor modeling of the biomass in fermentation process, in order to construct a more effective hybrid model, the configuration and form of the hybrid model should be divided. Expert system is a computer program system, which can simulate experts to solve problems. The expert system can use experts' knowledge and experience to ratiocinate, judge and make decision. So it's a good choice to solve the problem of dividing the soft-sensor hybrid model.
