| In this paper, we introduce the history and the development of Industrial Ethernet and PROFINET, and make a discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of Industrial Ethernet for industrial control. Then we analyze the Real-Time performance of Ethernet and present several solutions to advance the Real-Time performance by using the up-to-date technology such as full-duplex switch Ethernet, and also performe an in-depth evaluation of switched Ethernet for Real-Time industrial communication.We discusse the structure and communication mechanism for PROFINET, and describe the realization. With PROFINET, field device manufacturers and system engineers will devote the least cost for fixing, designing and startup. PROFINET IO, PROFINET CBA and the Real-Time communication of PROFINET are studied in detail. Based on the ARM7, analyze the key problems of migrating uC/OS II and lwIP to AT91x40x.
