With the rapid development of web services and grid services, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) has become the core structure of enterprise modeling. Based on the successful implementation of the Industrial Research Projects of the Science and Technology Plan of Guangdong Province, named"GIS Grid Service and its applications", this paper summerizes the existing problem in SOA, which lies in the deficiency of service virtualizion originated by the static binding of resources. Thus, the concept of Plugabble Grid Service (PGS) is proposed here to solve the problem, together with the prototype and experiment to validate its feasibility, functionality and performance. This paper proposes and implements the PGS Architecture used to separate services and resources, as well as to fulfill the dynamic binding task at runtime, which aims at abstracting services and making full use of various dynamic resources in virtual organization, in order to improve the efficiency of the grid service runtime environment and the QoS of services. There are three contribution and innovation points in this paper:(1) The concept of Pluggable Grid Service is proposed, by referencing the idea of services provided by electrical devices once plugged into the socket, and the similar concept in compute hardware. By extending the definition of grid service interface, this paper defines the uniform semantics of PGS, providing the extra information needed after the separation of services and resources.(2) A PGS runtime environment is designed and implemented, which aims at fully exploiting the various existing resources in virtual organization, with the help of the QoS requirement of the service and the technology of large-scale resource load balancing.
