The Development Of A 3D Solid Modeler For Computer-Supported Cooperative Design Function

A 3D solid modeler developed on ACIS 3D modeling platform with the capacity of computer-supported cooperative design (CSCD) function is presented in this paper.ACIS is an object-orient 3D modeler platform provide by Spatial Technology Crop. The wire frame modeler, surface modeler and solid modeler are integrated in ACIS. The data of the wire frame, surface and solid are saved as the same structure. The ACIS includes 35 object-orient dynamic link library (DLL). It provides a lot of functions for 3D modeling and operation to 3D modeling application developer, such as sweep, skin, loft, cover and heal.The first part of the work is the research of an 3D solid modeler using Microsoft Visual Studio .Net 2003 IDE with Microsoft Foundation Class Library (MFC). The functions of simple 2D &3D solid model's construction and revise of the parameter are provided with this 3D solid modeler. The booler operation between 3D solid models and the sweep operation between 2D wire-frame are supported with the 3D modeler. These functions satifies to the requirement of the definition of field on pre-process of finite elements analysis.Currently the CAD technologies turn to providing the support of team work and cooperation between multiuser from providing the support of single user's work. The CAD software which support the cooperation of team work will own stronger capacity of competition in market. The second part of the work are developing the function of computer-supported cooperative design with this 3D solid modeler. The technology of socket is used to support low layer communication between the server and client. The mechanism of token passing is used for concurrent control in the cooperative session. The technology of What You See Is What I See (WYSIWIS) is used to share the information between users.
