IPTV, as an emerging telecom service, is still at the start-up stage in China. It relies on content and technology. Content is the foundation which makes it survive, and technology is the guarantee which makes it flourish.IPTV indicates that it is TV over IP - television content delivered to the consumer by internet technology. Thus TV and IP are IPTV's two aspects. As to the TV aspect, attention is paid to the content, video coding and decoding research. It attempts to provide television services of similar qaulity or higher resolution by using lower bandwidth. Every effort, such as the research of video codecing and decoding methord, the invention and innovation of new algorithm, the establishment of many standards, has enhanced the video compression and transmission efficiency to a higher level, and has made IPTV possible.As to the IP network, the original intention of its design is not for such bandwidth consuming, real-time needed, high quality demanding service as TV. Therefore there exists many problems to transmit TV over IP network. Presently, most domestic network can't meet the requirements of IPTV, which have become the obstacle to develop IPTV business if we don't reconstruct the networks as soon as possible. The thesis will focus on how to reconstruct present networks to satisfy the application of IPTV, which has few overseas and domestic reference .First of all, the thesis demonstrates that video transmission needs the network to provide the application guarantee of bandwidth by analysis the multimedia coding and the transmission method. The present network still can't satisfy the application of video transmission, although it can supply some QoS reliability by some technologies. Only new special carrier networks can satisfy the new requirements.By researching the recent progress of IP technology, the thesis presents a model of IPTV network data flow and basic construction of IPTV carrier network, which consider the IPTV requirement of network. IPTV carrier networks have four parts, core network, gathering network, access network and family network. According to IPTV's realtime and reliability needs, each part is designed and constructed to guarantee QoS reliability. The thesis also researches the structure of CDN(the content delivery network)and the influence of CDN for VOD.With project practices of Shanghai Daning multimedia valley interaction television and Shanghai telecommunication IPTV net network construction, the thesis presented many new effective innovation ways in construction of IPTV carrier networks project, and elaborated these technical applications. Those technologies and methods include:Proposes the IPTV carrier network bandwith guarantee thought, and points out that IPTV can't succeeds without bandwidth guarantee.Presents the IPTV address assignment method by DHCP authentication, Which can solve the problem that PPPoE protocol don't support multicast in the tradition broadband access network.Presents a set of methods to ensure the security of IPTV carrier network...
