This dissertation studies the fiber grating fabrication technique and its application in fiber lasers. It is aimed to form a practical fiber grating design and fabrication systems with application emphasis. Fiber grating is playing more and more important roles in optical fiber telecommunication, optical fiber sensor and integrated optics. It can be widely used in many aspects such as fiber laser, fiber amplifier, fiber sensor and fiber gyro, etc. Based on the project being carried out and by referring to a lot of related references, we performed the following work:1. Analysis on the mechanism and improvement of photosensitivity was given. Coupled Mode Theory (CMT) and Transfer Matrix Method (TMM) were employed to analyze the fiber gratings together with apodization and phase shift.
