Along with the popularizing of the Internet, it becomes not only the most time-spending medium, but also the most influential one that partial people access in daily life. In that way, is it true that the Internet has the Cultivation Effect to help to establish the ideal mentality of those people as the one that the TV has?This thesis is an explorative research on the Cultivation Effect of the Internet. The main purposes are to test and verify whether the Internet has the Cultivation Effect on the public; to analyze patterns tracing by this possible existing Cultivation Effect and to carry out deep-investigation on how it comes into being, so as to annotate and elaborate the Cultivation Effect adaptability in new media circumstances.Adopting the access and the involve level as the independent variable units during the study of the Internet Cultivation Effect, this research use the relevancies between how long the public access to the Internet, how do they involve in it and their social cognitions, social beliefs, as well as personal beliefs. Casing as the university students'belief and acknowledgment on"One-Night-Stand"and relevant social activities, this research has definite regulation on the public difference, traditional media and the influence among people.This research shows that: the Internet access of the public has marked interaction with their social cognitions and social beliefs; as well as the one between the involvement degree of the public and their social cognitions, social beliefs and personal beliefs. The result preliminarily proves that the existence of the Internet Cultivation Effect and hold that this kind of Cultivation Effect has inner link with the public involvement.
