Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) is a new bio-chemical analysis method. Compared with traditional bio-chemical analysis methods, it has the advantage of label-free detection, real-time monitoring, and non-invasive analysis. One of its trends is miniaturization. The main mission of this project is to design a handy SPR bio-chemical sensor, carry out some bio-chemical experiments with this sensor, make sure this sensor has high sensitivity.The dissertation first describes the background and principle of SPR technology and its developing trend, gives the conditions when the SPR curve would be the best, then introduces this instrument from its optical, mechanical, circuit, and data processing systems, then gives some experiment results. At last discusses some aspects which needed to improve on.We have successfully manufactured one handy SPR bio-chemical sensor, the experiment results showed the instrument had good performance. Its sensitivity reached approximately 5.4 ×10-5RIU, and its sensitivity would be better after some improvements.
