This thesis concentrates some researches on 3D reconstruction from a collection of planar contours representing sections through the object.lt discusses four key problems of 3D reconstruction and some techniques solving them at present and presents some key algorithms that can be used in the process of 3D reconstruction. The paper puts forward a new algorithm for the triangulation of any polygon.Besides,it comes up with some new methods to solve four key problems of 3D reconstruction. These methods include a new algorithm for the tiling problem based on the greatest local volume , three mixed tiling algorithms, two parameters intituled datum mark and the number of connecting points which can influence the tiling result of contour, a new algorithm for the branching problem and a modified algorithm for the correspondence problem. After the surface model of 3D object is constructed, its soiid model will be constructed by using two methods. The thesis also researchs the 3D orebody reconstruction from a collection of 2D orebody sections and discusses data structure of the 3D orebody reconstruction and the methods disposing 2D orebody data. Finally, the program on the 3D orebody reconstruction is completed. In the conclusions and expectations,it points out the trend of 3D reconstruction from a collection of planar contours and the work to be done in the future.
