Three-dimensional (3D) visualization of the orebody is one of the most active frontiers in the field of Digital mining, meanwhile, the research and design of 3D visualization system constitutes the necessity in the field of the geoscientific growth. The theory methods and the actual development of 3D visualization of orebody are mainly studied in this paper, which lay a solid foundation for its perfect realization. How to fetch useful information within 3D data sets and intuitively view a graph, which is mainly studied by 3D visualization of orebody. Method of 3D visual realization and geologic model building are systemic researched while the real time display of orebody and drilling is solved in this paper, which the shape of orebody in subterranean environments can be reappearanced by 3D visualization, so that they can assist mine engineering design, the construction and the decision-making.Firstly, we illustratesed the technical principle and the method of 3D visual realization, and proposed simulation of ore body in geometric spatial shape with the structurized grid data as the data type and technique of the direct volume rendering in this paper. Secondly, Orebody of 3D visualization is realized using IDL on the base of forefathers' research. In this system, it has considered the orebody spatial geometry shape and the ore body internal attribute for the realization of ore body spatial analysis, the graph process and the grade distribution characteristic, has solved the problem that the graphical display separate from the grade and the calculation of reserves in the traditional ore body model. The 3D data sets showing and the analysis is also the main part of the realization of 3D visualization systems, so it studied geologic model building and the application software based on researched data acquisition, store, processing and so on and proposed. Proposed that the realization of this system combine the regular cell's subdivision with krig block body modeling and has utilized the photometry, the colorimetry algorithm to realize vision effect, introduced hide, the illumination model, the color model, and so on in orde to strengthen visualization simulation effect.Tne development of 3D visualization of orebody is an urgent for the solution of the mine production needs. System implementation is used the Access database to administrate data, used the IDL technology to draw 3D rendering of ore body and the drilling, you can easily show ore body and the drill hole, according to the parameter, the orebody and the drill are rotated, offseted scaled and so on. Finally, to confirm its function, we took on JiaYaShan section of Yunnan Lanping Lead-zinc mine as the example. The result of the example indicate the accuracy of visualization algorithm and the effectiveness of model which the paper used.
