Wireless sensor networks, composed by sensors, microprocessor and wireless communication interface, is an interesting field, and gain more and more attentions. As one of the structure of its network, mobile Ad hoc wireless network (MANET) is a kind of mobile multi-hop and self-organized wireless network. Unlike in the wired networks where bandwidth, energy etc. are usually abundant, bandwidth, energy etc. are always scarce in MANET. Providing QoS (Quality of Service) guarantee in MANET is necessary. Currently there are many QoS strategies proposed. The QoS routing protocol is one of these strategies. This article first introduces the concepts, characters and the routing protocols of the MANET. The MANET has the characters of self-organized,acentric,multi-hop and time-varying topology. There are three kinds of wireless routing protocols: proactive protocols, reactive protocols and promiscuous protocols. Then the article discuss the QoS strategies of MANET, especially QoS routing protocols. Then, we proposed a new QoS protocol, QGR, based on the greedy geographic routing and dynamic source routing. QGR protocol searches the best route for the packet using energy, packet delay and bit error rate of MANET as QoS parameter. And then we introduce the network simulator NS2, discuss its structure, principle and function. We introduce the process of adding new protocols and simulating it.At last, we simulate the QGR protocol in NS2, evaluate its performance, compare it with GPSR and analyze its advantages and disadvantages.
