With today's commerce being more and more competitive, information becomes more and more intensive in the business environment, which requires companies to make best use of the data gathered in their business to improve their decisions and thereby improve the competitive ability of themselves. Traditional operational management information system can no longer meet the needs of companies. The concept of business intelligence(BI), which is technically supported by data warehousing(DW), online analytical processing(OLAP) and data mining(DM), is widely recognized by companies. Business intelligence is based on the process of retrieving information from large amount of data, converting the information into knowledge which is useful for companies in terms of effective and efficient decision making.The implementation of business intelligence is a complex process. Successful implementation of BI requires fully understanding of business requirement of companies, having abundant data and mastery in BI technology.In this thesis, the author firstly does some research on the concepts, technology and implementation methodology of business intelligence. Then, with the study of the requirements and the present informatization conditions of Hafei Motor Co., Ltd., the author designs and develops a BI system, Business Intelligence Based Comprehensive Query and Decision Analysis System for Hafei Motor Co., Ltd. In this system, the author applies the techniques of specific information query, OLAP and data mining to meet different BI requirements. Moreover, the author also designs an improved Fuzzy K-prototypes algorithm which is used for customer segmentation analysis.The successful implementation of the system implies that the BI implementing process and the BI techniques discussed in this thesis are not only applicable in Hafei Motor Co., Ltd. but also can serve as a guidance for BI developing and implementation in other manufacturing enterprises in China.
