As the rapid development of aerospace industry and electronic optics technology, remote sensing has found an increasingly wide utilization in many fields and plays an increasingly important role in national economy and military affairs. However, on account of large amount, abundant information, high value and high data rate, the burden of imaging system for image storage and image transmission is increased, so how to store and transfer remote sensing images effectively with image compression technology is of great practical significance.By researching the system structure and key technologies of predictive encoding and combining with the feature of multi-spectral image, we analyzed its application in remote sensing image compression. Based on the algorithm above, we presented a kind of lossless coding algorithm based on JPEG-LS adaptive prediction. The experimental results show that it has not only low complexity, but also high ability against errors. It accord with the request of application of remote sensing. So this method is an efficient technology of multi-spectral image lossless compression.
