An important aspect in information science field is to acquire real information of objective world ,but there exists noise in all systems ,especially it is difficult to detect weak signal in strong noise based on conventional ways ,so more attention has been paid to the problem of how to measure the weak signal in strong noise .It is proved that chaotic systems are sensitive to certain signals but immune to noise at the same time ,the properties of which demonstrate their tremendous potential application in weak signal detection .The principle and process of detecting weak signal by using Duffing oscillator are discussed in details in the paper .The influence of the parameters on the system character is demonstrated by a lot of experiment data. The signal is detected by choosing appropriate parameters. Experiment result demonstrates that the method is clearly better than traditional time-domain detection methods for weak signal, especially for the signal which is submerged by strong noise. The detection system is realized in virtual instrument based on the theory of weak signal detection by Duffing oscillator.
