The detection of weak signal under strong background is a newly arisen subject, it has wide application prospect in the electronics, communication, automation, physics and meteorology. The chaotic oscillator is extremely sensitivity to the initial condition and owing of high immunity from noise which can be used to detect the weak signal. Based on a deep research of the weak signal detection method using Duffing chaotic oscillator, a new chaotic nature identification algorithm based on image recognition is proposed. This algorithm has such advantages as low computational complexity, small storage space and high immunity from noise, and is especially fit for the application under limited resources, for example, embedded system. A signal amplitude detection algorithm based on this algorithm is developed too. Finally, a hardware system based on above algorithm is established by using a Altera company's FPGA device and his SOPC technology. A large number of experiments are made to verify the system's accuracy and stability.
