With the rapid development of hardware industry, more and more new technologies can be adopted in digital TV design, such as the digital video algorithm module, which used to be positioned in high-end and expensive products, now are available to common TV. The traditional analog TV has many faults such as color-crawling, flicker and fast-moved object's boundary blur and zigzag. These faults are not existed in digital TV, but due to various reasons, it'll be quite a long time before the digital TV completely replaces the analog TV. It still makes much sense to provide such an important function to convert interlaced scan to progressing scan.Because of the real time requirement of TV signal, many deinterlacing systems adopted non-motion compensation-based algorithms which required less computing workload, but resulted in bad effects. In this dissertation, a new algorithm module is introduced which can implement a more complicated and motion compensation-based video processing algorithm, meanwhile a simulation is given here to prove its validation. The whole algorithm consists of function modules of motion detection, noise filter, deinterlacing and image enhancement.In this dissertation, a simplified motion model is proposed in which we assume that there are only five ways of motions, including horizontal motion, vertical motion, 35° and 135° direction motion and no motion. The motion detection is achieved based on this model and when we apply the result of motion detection, in the late algorithm of video signal process, like noise filtering and deinterlacing, we get perfect effect.In the dissertation, the most important part is deinterlacing algorithm, which can be classified into linear algorithms, nonlinear algorithms and motion adaptive algorithms, of the three, motion adaptive algorithms is...
