With the development of computer technology, simulation is being used in more and more fields. When it is hard or impossible to experiment on real system, simulation can do some research on it by using models. In the process of designing the information processing system of space object observation radar, metric data are needed to verify modules' function. While in the period of debugging, it is hard to get actual data. So it is necessary to simulate metric data. This paper is based on such background.At first, the basic flow of simulation is analyzed, based on which the work of simulating radar system for space object observation is carried out. The study in this paper focuses on: ① The simulation model of space object movement is established by studying it's movement equation and the mechanical models. The simulation model of radar detection is established through radar equation and error analysis. ②An algorithm for observation time arrangement is designed to simulate how radar works in tracking multi target. The principle and flow of arrangement are presented and the algorithm is optimized. ③ A simulation system with almost full function is realized by integrating the function of these modules. At last, the performance of the observ ation time arrangement algorithm is analyzed through experiment. The comparison of running results under different arrangement interval is shown in graphics and the efficiency is analyzed. The validity of simulated metric data is tested in an indirect way.
