With the introduction of fieldbus technology, communication time delay was brought into the control system. And this kind of time delay was time-varying and unpredictable, which made the control system more unstable, and some theories can't be used directly. So the research on control algorithm for fieldbus control system with time-varying communication delay possessed both theoretical and practical significance.In this paper, the time-delay characteristic of FF and CAN control system is analyzed. By comparing the advantages and disadvantages of some popular algorithms, an improved Smith predictive controller is presented. The improved algorithm is demonstrated on a simulation platform. The simulation results show that the improved Smith predictive controller can effectively overcome the fieldbus communication delay, and is simple enough to be implemented for the common industrial process. The simulation platform used above is modeling based on the finite state machine and fieldbus protocols, and is developed in MATLAB/Simulink environment.The developed simulation platform makes the fieldbus control system'...
