Condition monitoring and fault diagnosis is an important issue in process industries, which is also a key technique for assuring safe-operation and improving productivity. So designing a process monitoring system using multiple technologies is of great importance. A distributed monitoring system (DMS) is brought forward and implemented based on the distributed object-oriented computing technique, which making it have many advantages over traditional centralized condition monitoring technology. This thesis first describes the general research development of BP Network,KDE, Genetic Algorithm, ARX model and their specific application in DMS such as architecture, algorithm-flow etc. Then the paper introduces the distributed object technique with the focus on the description of CORBA and the specific developing tools VisiBroker. Finally, a multi-client distributed monitoring system based on CORBA is developed with multi-technologies referred before. Considered from architecture and function, it consists of three modular: data collection, computing server, and graphical user interface. Due to the open structure of the system, it offers a good maintainability and expandability.
