| Library science philosophy has been studied since the early thirties in the 20th century. There still exists controversy about the connotation of it, its disciplinary nature, content construction, category system and the interactions between philosophy and the basic library science theories. The majority of essays about library science philosophy are mainly restricted to the disciplinary construction of it; however, the boundaries between the content and the status of it are not clearly stated. While in other disciplines such as chemistry philosophy, politics philosophy, economics philosophy, history philosophy, a lot of essays have been published. Besides, it is worthwhile to learn from these rapidly-developing disciplines.The purpose of this essay is that by using content analysis, that is, qualitative and quantitative analysis, the essays on library science philosophy and philosophy in other disciplines are analyzed, as a result, the differences in research content, research methods can be found out. By comparison, we can have a clear, objective and essential knowledge about the present research situation and the fruits of research. Therefore, we can introduce more topics, research methods and means related to philosophy in other disciplines into library science, making it get out of trouble and having a direction of development in conformity with scientific tendencies.This research is essential to library science philosophy, which in turn gives guidance to practice in it. Library science can provide theoretical dimensions, values and methodologies. In addition, this essay applies content analysis to the library information.
