The Political Function Of New Media In The View Of Marx’s Philosophy And Its Realization Approach

With the access to global media era and new media society, new media has gotextensively involved in all areas of social life at an amazing speed and strongly interactedwith them, which plays an irreplaceable role instead of families, schools, governments andother social organizations in the construction of a modern democratic society. Digitaltechnology, network technology and communication technology have been involved in themedia, which creates a host of new media forms. The rapid development of the new medianot only has changed the long-formed communication mechanisms of mass media, but alsohad a significant impact on politics, culture, life and many other social fields.However, people have always been accustomed to understanding and exploring the newmedia from the perspective of the social superstructure, regarding the new media as the“mouthpiece” of political parties and governments, and also the government`s publicity toolof top-down control and management of its people. It will certainly affect exploration andpursuit of the value of the mission in the new media. Some discipline areas in academia havebegun to focus on the special role of democratic society construction and have madepreliminary theoretical achievements, but from research results, the study for the new mediain domestic academia is still at the initial developing stage at present, whether in theinterpretation or the basic definition of historical roots, or in the expansion of value function.New media still need to develop in academia.This paper makes an analysis on relative theories of new media from the perspective ofMarxist philosophy, pointing out that the new media in contemporary China has its ownfeatures in political function and its extensions. By sorting out features, definition,classifications and properties of new media in modern Chinese society, combining with thebasic content of Marxist philosophy, the basic problem of philosophy, the main points ofMarxist philosophy, Dialectical Materialism, theoretical basis and logical starting point ofMarxist philosophy, Materialist dialectics, the state of the world existence to be answered,historical materialism, and Marxist social concept of history and other core values, this paperillustrates the political functions of the new media under Marxist philosophy, reaching the conclusion that new media can push forward the ideal progress of democratic politics, thatnew media can promote rational communication between civil society, the state and society,that new media can promote the dialogue platform of discussing the will of the masses, thatnew media deepen the concept of equality and freedom, that the independence and equalparticipation mechanism can meet the demands of people’s freedom and equality, that newmedia are people’s true realization of freedom and equality and that new media can promotepeople`s protection consciousness of human rights, namely, new media give mental supportsto human rights protection, provide channels and bridges to realize human rights ininformation age; new media are the powerful force to protect human rights and restrict massrights; new media push social fairness and justice; new media can set up fair media agendafor the public and new media are an important link of the social justice realizationmechanism.Then, this paper discusses theoretical basis of realizing political function of new mediaunder Marxist philosophy in the following aspects: new media should regard the thoroughmaterialism as the starting point; new media should pay attention to the time and space of thereports; new media should adhere to the unity of opposites as fundamental method; newsreports should integrate the unity of subjective and objective; new media should uphold therealism and historical unity; new media should show the unity of appearance and essence;new media should adhere to the basic principles of active theory of reflection; new mediahave strong practicability; new media should attach great importance to active function of thetheory into practice. New media activities should take historical materialism as the end-result.New media activities should reflect and serve the economic base. New media activitiesshould stick to the history view of the masses. New media activities require the return to theessence of man. Through the analysis of these theories, the practice approaches of politicalfunction of the new media under Marxist philosophy mainly include: new media shouldprovide spiritual support for the construction of political civilization; new media have animpact on the reconstitution of public sphere; new media play the leading role in publicsphere; new media should strengthen citizen’s political identity; new media should strengthenmedia closing right of citizen; new media should integrate public cohesion; new media should act as spokesman for public participation in political life; new media should providechannels for expressing public opinions; new media should realize the implementation ofcitizen journalism; new media should shoulder the responsibility of the construction ofsocialist core value system; new media should push citizen’s rights to approach to media andnew media should guide the citizens for a rational politics.Finally, in view of Marxist philosophy, this paper focuses on new media, pointing outthat the development of the new media is of great significance to the construction of China’spolitical civilization. Although there are some innovations, they are not complete in theterm of reality,. It is believed that with deepening development of the new media in thepolitical initiative and influence of social life, the new media in China and its role inpromoting China’s political civilization construction will become the topic among the futurescholars. In short, we should believe that the analysis of Marxist philosophy view of newmedia is very necessary, and the development and research of new media in China will alsocontinue to show its strong vitality, at the same time it will also be the driving force forChina’s political civilization and social civilization progress.
