Developers of Information System have to face challenges from two domains, management and technology. Challenges from management lie in how to refine the structure of organization and business procedure. While Challenges from technology domain lie in how to describe the structure of organization and business procedure, namely architecture design and structure design, and how to manufacture the target system, namely realization. There are two flaws in current Information Systems. The database of current Information System provides a detailed view of current business scenario, while fails to directly provide a macro view of business in time, space, or other logical dimension, nor provide views of business in several different time points. On the other hand, most Information Systems are base on distributed database, and they evolved to current style after many times of discrete development. The lack of a unique metadata strategy is the reason for the variety of data structure among the databases of an Information System. It's very difficult to get a consistent data view from these databases, which are called Information Silos. Moreover the natures of operational and analytic processing are inherently different from one another, so independent data stores and radically different design principles are needed. It is impossible for a single database to provide optimized support for both kinds of processing simultaneously.Data Warehouse is the data management solution for tackling these problems, by altering the way of describing the structure of organization and procedure of business. It is an important component in an architected environment that has been optimized for analytic processing.Data extracting, cleansing, transformation and loading cost...
