Research & Design Of Home Gateway Based On ARM And VxWorks

With the rapid development of PC, communication, network and control technology , the demand for the automation and informationization of household appliances is higher and higher, and it is put forward that the demands for the flexibility of controlling household appliances and the convenience of collecting external information. The implementation of those demands is depended on Home Gateway. Home Gateway is served as the communication portal between home internal and external networks, so the research emphasis is put on it. Therefore S3C4510B+RTL8305SB and VxWorks OS serve as the hardware and software basis in this design. Based on them, hardware and software platforms of Home Gateway are further studied and designed.Firstly, the embedded OS and CPU of Home Gateway is presented, the hierarchical structure of it is also given. The hardware system of Home Gateway is introduced in detail. The hardware system broadens Jtag interface , serial port, SDRAM and Flash memory, LAN and WAN interface with its core based on S3C4510B and a five-network switching chip (one WAN interface, four LAN interface).Next, the thesis describes the design of Home Gateway software system. VxWorks is a OS endowed with extensibility, tailoring and high reliability, which is suitable for popular target CPU platform and possesses many advantages such as powerful network support, high modularized and microkernel functions. The paper gives emphasis to the VxWorks OS starting procedure, porting VxWorks based on its hardware platform, the implementation of TrueFFS driver on the basis of Flash memory and the transformation of GoAhead Webserver.Then, that the hardware debugs on Home Gateway designed in the thesis is presented, and the software functions of it are simply tested. At last, the design is summarized briefly, and the further research works are proposed in this paper.
