FPD (Flat Panel Display) is fast entering the Chinese family with the representation of LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and PDP (Plasma Display Panel), depending on advanced technical performance, slim fashion exterior, and has already replaced traditional CRT by step, becoming the first choice of the customers with the development of social economy and the enhancement of people's life standard. Although the forecast of the digital TV's market is quite good, the core technique such as audio, video processing chip and software controlling system is held by the foreign manufacturer. This paper analyzes the architecture of FPD's controlling board, realizing the function of OSD (On Screen Display) in details by investigating and studying foreign mature solving schemes according to requirements of markets and mastering advanced technology.Firstly, this paper introduces the display characters, the technical actuality and the development tendency in the world, summarizes the hardware architecture and the flow of the signal processing, discusses the key procedure of de-interlace and scalar with emphasis based on researching foreign resolving projects. Then this paper studies the software architecture of FPD's controlling board, proposes the design methods based on components and layers, implements module design of software and reusing of module, reduces workload, shortens launching time of the products, at the same time expatiates the execution and the calling mechanism of components of different layers. This paper analyzes the processing procedure of FPD's OSD, defines head structure and corresponding data structure of OSD, implements the controlling components' design means and function of OSD in detail. Finally, the work in this paper is summarized, and the problems among the work unsolved are analyzed, the prospect is discussed.
