ObjectiveIn order to quantify the treatment of fractures with splint, we develop discal index drawing force transducer for measuring and controlling the sanction of fixation retainer of the splint. The transducer is composed of principle structure and drawing force spring which is the source of power. The principle of design of the transducer is nonlinear which make it most sensitive at the range of effective sanction of fixation retainer of the splint. We progress an applied basal study on this subject.MethodsAccording to the technique of biomechanics: 1. The design, structure and principle of working of the discal index drawing force transducer. 2. According to the need of clinic, we progress drawing test, demarcating test and enduring test. 3. Based on the nonlinear design of the transducer, we process holistically demarcating experiment in order to confirm the sensitive parameter. 4. Process clinical tests for the sake of safety and effect of discal index drawing force transducer.Results1. Discal index drawing force transducer is composed of principle structure, index, drawing staff, drawing spring, transparent dial, bottom cover and fixation retainer.2. At the drawing tests, the curve of displacement-force presents linearity ascend tendency which is accord with Hook's law. The elastic intensity of spring is 19.57N, the whole length change to 13.85mm.The ultimate elastic intensity of spring is 41.23N, the whole length change to 56.76mm, it belongs to the material that can deform markedly on the lower loading. The parameter of loading and unloading testsis contiguous, from 0 to 200g, the displacement of spring is only 0.1mm. Loading to 800g, the displacement of spring is 8. 745 + 0. 005mm and unloading to 800g, the displacement is 8. 755 + 0. 011mm. Loading to 1400g, the displacement of spring is 11.223 ± 0.007mm and unloading to 1400g, the displacement is 11.24 + 0. 015mm. The statistics of parameters of two groups have no diffidence which proves that the character of the spring is much more stable. Based on the enduring tests, from 0 to 1500g, the spring show elastic deformity but at 2000g, it show plastic deformity. This proves that the spring is accord with the need of clinic.3. According to the holistically demarcating experiment, the change regulation of the curves between loading-angle and unloading-angle accord with cotangent function and the statistics of parameters of two groups have no diffidence. At 200 ~ 400g, the angle is turned from 42. 25±2. 71° to 53.00 + 3.02° which increase 7—9°;At 600~800g, the angle is turned from 80.88+1.96° to 112.38±1.60° which increase 27~32°;At 1000~1200g, the angle is turned from 131.75 + 2.05° to 145.50 + 1.51° which increase 19—14° .At the clinic treatment, the drawing force transducer is most sensitive when the sanction of fixation retainer of the splint is 700~900g.4. On the exercise state, the result of clinic simulative test shows that the value of displacement puts up linearity ascend tendency along with the force of hand increasing. The displacement of Marker 1+Marker2 is increased from 0.1013 + 0.0198mm to 1.9509 ±0. 0386mm and the sanction of fixation retainer of the splint is equal to 426g;The displacement of Marker3+Marker4 is increased from 0.1196 + 0.0198mm to 1.9981 + 0.0642mm and the sanction is equal to 429g;The displacement of Marker5+Marker6 is increased from 0.0949 ±0. 016mm to 1. 9366 + 0. 0553mm and the sanction is equal to 423g. The sanction of 3 fixation retainers of the distal radial splint can be controlled about 800g at the monitor of drawing forcetransducer.Conclusion1. Discal index drawing force transducer is composed of principle structure ^ index> drawing stafif\ drawing spring ^ transparent dial > bottom cover and fixation retainer. The characteristic are handy and practical, simple to make, twopenny cost and convenience to monitor.2. At the drawing tests, the curve of displacement-force presents linearity ascend tendency which is accord with Hook's law. The spring belongs to the material that can deform markedly on the lower loading. The parameter of loading and unloading tests is contiguous which prove that the character of the spring is much more stable. The enduring tests prove that the spring is accord with the need of clinic.3. On the exercise state, it is an elastic system which is not only effective but also more safety.
