With the fast development of computer and Internet technology, embedded technology starts to dominate the market. Especially 32-bits ARM embedded processor, due to its good performance and low power consumption, has penetrated to all fields such as scientific research, engineering design, military technology, commercial culture art and consuming products ranged from mobile phone , PDA, PocketPC, MP3 Player, SET TOP BOX to IP phone. Embedded system and its products have been related to our daily life more closely.This project is funded by one Electronic Limited Company. In this paper, the prospect of embedded system is introduced at first, and then the devolpment status both hardware and software is analyzed. It shows the support of operating system is urgently needed for software development of embedded system. 32-bits RISC embedded processor, as the hardware kernel of development, will be an inevitable trend. Taking all these into account, we take ARM processor HMS30C7202 as the hardware platform, Linux real-time embedded operating system as the software platform. The application is realized in the field of Touch Screen, HPI Interface, Internet.Followed are the discussions of the platform structure, hardware circuit design and system software. For the platform structure, we mainly analyzes function of HMS30C7202, the characteristic of Linux operating system and its software developing environment. For hardware circuit design, we design the interface circuits of memory, display, mouse, touch screen controller, Ethernet etc, and analyze the communication protocols of touch screen controller. Finally, based on the basic theories of Linux drive program, and the drive program of HPI interface and network receive-and-send program are designed. We analyze the transforming relations between the LCD and touch screen controller, the Microwindows programming structure is discussed. debug and test the system. Experimental results demonstrate the correctness of protocols. Each part of system runs according to the plan forecast, which proves our plan proposed is feasible. The innovations of this dissertation are as follows:the HPI interface port is successfully designed on the ARM HMS30C7202, and the communication of high-speed parrallel data is realized. Meanwhile, the browse of internet is realized through TV, VGA and liquid crystal dispaly.
