With the developments of VoIP(Voice over IP) technology and the communication technology, the IP network phone is growing up very quickly. Comparing to the traditional telephone, IP telephone has great advantages over price, user requirement and multimedia session. No doubt, all these will revolutionize telephone network and service.The main content of this thesis is the design and implement of IP network phone based on OMAP. Firstly, this thesis introduces the advantages and developments of IP network phone. Secondly, it briefly introduces the key technology and several standard organizations of IP network phone.This thesis discusses the selection of platform, the software and hardware design of OMAP. The system structure of OMAP5912 which has dual-core processor (ARM+DSP), the software design of DSP/BIOS for inter-processor communication, the device driver for digital audio device, the programming of ARM and DSP are introduced in detail.The emphasis of this thesis is the realization of SIP and RTP protocols which are serving the IP network phone. This thesis explains the transplantation of oSIP and JRTPLIB library in depth. The overall frame is put forward based on Reference Framework Level 6(RF6), including the transmission and reception frame of audio.Finally, there is a brief summary and some suggestions for further research.
