Research On Mode Characteristic Of Medium Waveguid And Computer Aid Analysis

With the development of integrate optics, all kinds of laser and light spread equipment, the medium waveguide theory is more and more important. Medium waveguide theory mostly analyses the spread of light in medium. When the light and medium are different, the modes are different in the medium. The medium waveguide confines light depend on little difference of medium refractive index and equipment size, so little change of them have quite inflection of the waveguide. It is hard to control to test the performance of the waveguide with experiment, or the experiment equipment is too costly. We use computer to aid analysis mode characteristic waveguide. We use the soft of Matlab to draw electromagnetism field in the waveguide, which have capability of computation and drawing. So, we can easily see the influence of little change of light or waveguide size.Firstly, we introduce the electromagnetism theory of light spread .We analyse light spread and mode theory in medium waveguide with radial analysis method and electromagnetic analysis method. Then we use three slabs waveguide for example, set up a model, use Matlab to analyse the model and calculate equations. We can get different modes when the thicknesses of slabs are not the same, then we use Matlab to plot solid electric field graphs of different modes'TE wave. At last we introduce the application of three slabs theory in planar semiconductor micro-cavity.
