Mobile communications industry is the most advanced flexiblefast-developing and exciting region, Up to the end of 2003, there wereabout 1 billion mobile users in the world。Currently the research begin tofocus on the 3rd generation digital communications technology , e.g.WCDMA。Along with the development of the market economy and the financemodernization in China,mobile communication technology can greatly helppeople to increase everyday efficiency,that's why the whole communicationindustry got amazing development in China these years 。 The majorimprovement of 3GSM is much faster speed when transferring data or voice,so it is able to support many multimedia service like network meeting,e-business looking through website and so on.Design and realization of a baseband analog data processor will beillustrated in this paper. The whole system is implemented under the new 3Gstandard supported by China. Major work includes but not limits to design andtest two different kinds of PGA by using a switch-capacitor feedback networkand resistor feedback network. Detail includes schematic design and simulationwith Cadence Composer and HSPICE, running LVS, DRC, and then usingSTAR_RC to extract parasitic parameter from layout, rerunning the simulationbased on extraction netlist and improve CMRR performance, complete testing,debugging and writing datasheet after tape out. Both schematic design andphysical design of them are completed by full custom method.In this paper, the basic function and fundamental theory of two different kinds ofPGA is first given. Furthermore some critical block of the amplifier is introducedincluding some solution to some practical issue. Then the schematic design andphysical layout design are described. In the end, a brief summary is given. Thestudy is focused on the analog data converter circuits used in the signal path,including the switch-capacitor amplifier, cascade, 2-stages OTA, CMFB andother related circuits.
