Security Research Of Workflow Management System In Collaborative Work Environment

With the process of informatization, the share and inter-connection of information poses s a key subject facing the construction of digital campus which is also named e-university. The particular features of university business push the collaborative office to become one of the core issues during the construction of digital campus. As a kind of technology solution for process automation, workflow technology performs outstandingly in improving the efficiency of business processing, in optimizing the business processes, and ultimately, leading to the elevating the management in university to a higher level. With the help of the Web-basing workflow technology, this paper aims to achieve effective collaboration of the business in the university between different application systems, different levels, and to bridge the coordination between different organizations and departments.The security issue makes one of the major challenges that mostly application systems face. It is the same with workflow management system. Building in the total security architecture of digital campus network, the workflow management system requires a suit of effective, flexible and safe mechanism of authorization and access control. The mechanism leverage the subsystem of account identity management to ensure the task to be shouldered and be completed by the proper person, and address the key security issues such as the granting and revoking of privilege to or from role during the execution of process. E-university plan on the workflow platform basing on the technology of information share and inter-connection involves mostly every field of the resources beside university, and also need to offer bidirectional communication with faculty, students and users in or outside the campus so as to achieve the opening of resource. Thus, a suit of robust and comprehensive security mechanism makes one of the core aspects in the workflow management architecture under the environment of collaborative office in e-university.This paper firstly gives a detailed analysis to the features of collaborative office and workflow technology when applied to the digital campus applications, and then describes of the related security issues. The paper also makes research on the identity management system under the background of digital campus applications in order toachieve unified and central user account management. Analysis and comparisons between the currently prevalent security models for access control and authorization are then presented. Thirdly, according to the specific environment of workflow platform basing on the collaborative office, the paper describes the requirements that meet to the security mechanism of the workflow system. Lastly, the total security framework and solution for workflow platform under the collaborative office environment of digital campus is proposed in this paper.
