CAN bus is a kind of Serial communication network which can effectively support the distributed control and the real-time control. It featured of high performance and redundant reliable.An international standardfor CAN has been used. But CAN bus has its limitation as well, that it is very difficult to connected with Internet. If CAN bus can connect with Ethernet, all of the problems will be able to solved. At the same time, Ethernet can connect with Internet easily, therefor information of the control system can also be transmited to anywhere of the world.This dissertation in the foundation of thoroughly analysis to Ethernet and CAN bus, research to the interface of Ethernet and CAN bus, LPC2292 ARM7 was used as the key processor, ADS 1.2 as the software developing bench, uCOS - II as operating system, LwIP as TCP/IP stack. A Gateway between CAN and Ethernet was successly developed which could realize the interconversion between CAN bus and Ethernet, enables CAN bus to connect with Ethernet.This dissertation elaborated the basic principle and the technology standard of CAN bus, and designed a CAN node with AT89S52 micro-controller. It also discussed entire structure of the CAN - Ethernet gateway, and took LPC2292 as key processor, designed the hardware circuit, established the software development bench and the application procedure etc. Furthermore it compiled the driver of CAN controller and Ethernet controller, and transplants LwIP(light weight TCP/IP stack) on the foundation of operating system. And finally the interconversion between Ethernet and CAN bus was realized.
