Due to the explosive growth of the Internet and increasing demand for multimedia information on the web, Streaming media is invented to solve the problem that it costs a long time when people download media file. The definition of streaming media is that we use streaming method to get video, audio file. By using streaming technology, people need not download the whole file to watch the content, and they download the newest media content when watching the media. In wireless communication area, 3G mobile network can have 2Mbps data channel bandwidth, and wireless LAN can provide up to 54 Mbps. Both quality and bandwidth are enough to allow a large amount of data transmission. Meanwhile, the video compresses technology progress has ability to allow the transmission of high quality video over the wireless channel. The mobile stream media will be in great demand in widespread 3G network. With the background of the work in project "Component oriented Embedded Networking Technology" which belongs to National 863 Program, a streaming media player system is presented, which based on Elastos and software development for PDA: this system establishes session through RTSP, transports video and audio data packets and instructions through RTP/RTCP and plays streaming media files. Considering the characteristic of the wireless network and performance of mobile device, the thesis performs a detailed study on programming flow: RTSP, RTP/RTCP, decode module. The thesis also researches reliability, jitter, video and audio synchronization to a certain degree.
