For the increasing requirements in Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) and the"Last a Mile"Access, IEEE organization constitutes a new Wireless Metropolitan Area Network (WMAN) protocol named 802.16 which can solve the problems in physical circumstance (outdoor transmission at radio frequency) and QoS (Quality of Service). The MAC layer of IEEE 802.16 standard specifies QoS signaling mechanisms such as bandwidth request/allocation and scheduling service types on the basis of service class for the service flows. However, the standard leaves some important issues such as admission control, QoS parameter mapping, traffic conditioning and packet scheduling, undefined. These problems are expected to be resolved by the developers. In this thesis, we make a comprehensive and particular introduction and analysis on the QoS architecture of IEEE 802.16 MAC layer, firstly. Then, we raise a mission scheduling method on the basis of impartial principle, which proposes an admission control module and a mission scheduling module at the BS side. In the admission control module, we derive the reserved bandwidth formula on the basis of the service characteristics and key QoS parameters and present the algorithm for admission control. The mission schedule module has three important parts, in which we present the comprehensive algorithm for bandwidth calculating and allocation. Finally, we improve our method though MATLAB simulating.
