The purpose of this subject described in this paper is to develop our HDTV demodulation chip, based on the research of all digital DVB-C and ATSC receiver. In this paper, the signal characteristics and related basic demodulation theory of QAM and VSB are analyzed and timing synchronization and carrier recovery algorithms are researched and improved. Two sections non data-aided and data-aided algorithms constitute the analyses. We introduce timing recovery algorithm applying to variable symbol rate QAM systems using interpolation and improved algorithm using data segment synchronization and data field synchronization applying to VSB systems. Among these the key technique TED is analyzed and derived. Comparison in the performance of different algorithms is carried out by simulating. Lastly an improved algorithm using Hilbert transform is introduced and analyzed. The whole system is simulated using MATLAB and partly realized with FPGA. |
