J2EE is a currently popular developing-platform specification which should beobeyed in developing the distributed, n-tier, and enterprise network application. Withthe development of the computer network, the enterprise applications developed by ithave achieved very extensive application in e-business, e-government sphere.Efficiency is an important issue in application of J2EE. Shortening the responsetime caused by the network transfers and improving the ability of application todispose the affairs in unit time should be taken into consideration when designing asystem. Another issue is how to improve the reuseability and the extensibility of thesystem modules which are the necessary performances to improve the softwarequality and extend its life-cycle.J2EE patterns summarized by early developers have been proved useful;thereforethey have been adopted in the author's work to solve the reusability and extensibilityproblems in development of the railway ministry branch's portal website.At first, some essential background knowledge and the overview of the portalwebsite have been introduced. After the functions of the system have been analyzedand its essential summary design been made, the implementation of some use case ofthe website are taken as examples to show how to choose and make use of EJB designpattern. The various influences on the system performance by using these designpatterns are dealt with as well. The characteristics and the application field of thedesign patterns with similar functions are probed into. And some design patterns thatused in the system have been chosen. Various methods to improve the performance ofthe application system are given from the aspect of using J2EE patterns. And theimprovement of the system performance is listed and some views on how to choosethe J2EE design patterns are proposed. Finally, the corresponding important code ofsome functions and some UML diagrams using these patterns are provided.In conclusion, to develop distributed network application employing J2EE,thedesign patterns which adapted well to the scale of the application and environmentshould be chosen and these patterns can improve some performance of application.
