In real networks, studying and analyzing network protocols and network servicesare difficult for the complexity of network topology and difficulty of reproducednetwork condition. There are two traditional methods tor analyzing the performance of networkprotocols or services. One is real test, which is used at the end of development ofprotocols or services because of difficulty in physical equipments constructing.Another is Network Simulator, which model network traffic and components ofnetwork inside one network node. The disadvantage of Simulator is that theimplementation of protocol or service on Simulators may differ from a real protocolstack.Emulator is a new generation analyzing method for network protocols andservices, which integrates real test and Simulator into one analyzing method.Although there are some kinds of emulators, there there has no general purpose andwidely used wireless network emulator nowadays. We will introduce our wireless emulator, which adds mobility emulation in theNIST Net packet on a network cloud based on Linux PCs, which can give satisfactionsufficient to meet the requirement of mobility emulation and the scalable of mobilenodes. And using it, a new test bed will be constructed;MSR protocol and somestreaming media services will be run on it. Through analyzing the test results, it showsthat the wireless network emulator can satisfy the mobility of wireless network andcan accurately reflect the performance of these services in real network.
