Since the 90' of last century, the development of femtosecond lasers has openedbroad applications in many fields. The technique of chirped pulse amplification (CPA)has become the important method to get high power of femtosecond laser pulse. Inthis thesis , based on the ray-tracing method ,the dispersion compensation of chirpedpulse amplifier system was performed. The main contents of this thesis are listed below:1. In Chapter 1, a brief introduction of the development of the femtosecondlaser pulse generation, and the amplification technology is presented.2. The theory of chirped pulse amplification is reviewed in Chapter 2.Particularly the ray-tracing method for calculating the dispersion of the stretcher andcompressor was introduced in this part. The principle and types of amplifier were alsodescribed in this Chapter.3. In Chapter 3, the errors of numerical means by ray-tracing method forcalculating dispersion in the CPA system are investigated. The numerical means withthe modified steps is presented, which can distinctly improve total computationalaccuracy for compensating the high-order dispersion. The optimum step range ofnumerical means is selected by comparing with the analytical result.4. In this Chapter the curve shape of the group delay (GD) is presented as acriterion. Based on this criterion, the method of global compensation that introducedproperly the negative third order dispersion to balance the fifth order dispersion isdiscussed. A shorter pulse with near-transform-limited can be generated by thismethod rather than by the traditional approach.5. Finally, in Chapter 5, the theoretical analysis for the adjusting accuracy inthe femtosecond chirped pulse amplification system is presented. Based on thisanalysis, an output pulse was compressed to near transform-limited pulse with acompact Offner regenerative amplifier system.
