With rapid development of science and technology, Electronic products have been used in all fields of national economy. The facility used for amusement and study which is composed of the APU,CPU and PPU become more and more prevalent .At present, those products mainly come from foreign. Study and design on voice ICs are concentrated on collection coding and processing of voice in our country.For needs of Audio Process Unit in consume field, The Programmable Sound Generator with five channels is presented in this paper, which has four analog channels and one PCM digital channel. It not only can produce high and low frequency music and the DPCM voice signal, also has some characteristics, such as volume envelope,frequency sweep abilities,output duty cycle adjustment and sound channel timing shutdown. PCM digital channel have owns DMA, It can playback automatically when voice data length and initial address are set. The Programmable Sound Generator and an 8 bits CPU can made up of the voice IC which contains a CPU. Data can be stored in an integration circuit card which can be replaced easily, It can playback all kinds of voices. The five channels are parallel and every port register has its own address which parameter value has no effect on others. Besides, the metal wires and area of the slug are reduced and the production costs are also cut down by using asynchronous sequential circuit.The function of the PSG, which applied to the family recreation and study system, is simulated and verified by FPGA. The test results indicate that its performance meets the design requirement.
